Another year is rapidly coming to an end. Wishing you all an enjoyable and safe Festive Period from all of the instructors in Enfield CKD Schools. Let us hope that next year is a more normal year.

Lockdown Zoom Classes

Firstly all the instructors would like to say a big thank you to Mala who allowed us to use her community’s Zoom account for running these classes. Without her generosity the classes wouldn’t have run as smoothly.

Hopefully we will now be able to train in both halls but if we do need to hold some more Zoom classes then we’d ask, with the current sales on, if you can look to invest in improving your set up.

– If using a phone then think about investing in a phone tripod
– For a tablet or phone then something like this. Which will keep them stable and also allow correct angling for the camera.
– Wired or Bluetooth speakers for better sound as most seem to be struggling to hear us.
– If you are in a room with a TV and using your phone/tablet/Laptop then there are a number of cables that will allow you to link the them.
Android USB-C/Micro USB to HDMI
Apple Lighting to HDMI
Laptop will depend on connections available

– Some modern TV’s allow screen mirroring which is another option.

Licence & Insurance

Please ensure that you renew your CKD Licence and NAKMAS Insurance on time.
– The CKD Licence will have the issue date and so will expire 1 year after that date
– The NAKMAS Insurance will have the expiry date. NAKMAS have requested that we complete their form from their site. The link is here.

Restart of Training at Southgate 🤗🎉

We’re pleased to announce that training will restart at Southgate School on Thursday 3rd December and will run for the following 2 Thursdays finishing on Thursday 17th December.

We’re hoping to restart on Sunday 6th December finishing on Wednesday 16th December.

December Dan, Tag and Colour Belt Testing

The next testing will be held on Sunday 20th of December where we will be looking to hold

Colour Belt Testing
Timings will be sent out nearer to the testing date. Students who are eligible based on the number of classes attended will be reviewed over the first 2 weeks in December. Hence it’s very important that you make every effort to attend the classes held in the halls.
Please note that we will be very strict on students knowing and executing their techniques to a high standard. To that end we encourage students to re-read their testing cards and make the corrections especially those of a senior rank.
Please check your Testing Status to see if you have attended enough classes to be eligible.

Training Fees

Training fees – please revert back to your normal amount with payment on the 1st of the Month.

Late Payment of Fees

A reminder that late fees will incur an additional £5 for each person.
If you are not currently training but wish to remain on our register there is a minimum £5/month to cover registration fees or you can elect to be archived. Note that there will be a £20 administrative fee to reactivate your membership.

Intro Classes

Now that the running of classes has settled into a routine it will allow us to start running Intro classes again. If you know of anyone that is interested then please ask them to follow the instructions on our Booking page.

Feedback for Students

It’s important as a School to ensure that there is a process that allows the Instructors, Students and Parents to provide and receive feedback especially as we can no longer accommodate for parents to view their children training. To that end we will start using a feedback form which will be provided to the student with a wallet.
Students need to
– bring the wallet to each class
– ensure that their parent/guardian reads and signs to say they have read the feedback
– store the last testing card in the wallet

Instructors need to
– ensure that they provide constructive feedback
– read and sign to confirm that they have read any feedback from parents/guardians

Covid-19 rules for ECKD


– For Southgate School students 11 years old and over are required to wear a mask whilst going through the corridors. 😷
– All classes will need to be pre-booked using our online booking process.
– Classes can be booked from 1 week ahead up to 1 pm the day before the class. Please book early as spaces are limited due to Covid restrictions.
– You can view/delete your bookings using the My Bookings option.

– Classes will be limited in time to 45 mins to allow clean up and exiting time
– Due to the shorter class times we recommend that students spend a bit of time at home stretching and warming up
– All students will be temperature checked prior to entering class

– Hand sanitiser will be provided and must be used when entering and leaving the class

– Please wear indoor only shoes or gripper socks in class, outdoor shoes must be removed at the entrance

– Do not bring hand or foot safety

– You will be required to keep all your belongings by your side while you train

– Please use the toilet at home before you arrive the toilets in class will be closed

– The Turkey St parent waiting room will be closed, we politely ask parents to wait in their cars

– If you are unwell, please do not attend

– Uniforms incl T shirts and belts, must be washed after each training session.

Licence & Insurance

Second National Lockdown for England

The prime minister announced a second national lockdown from Thursday 5th November. We will be able to confirm whether classes can continue to be run once further details are released early next week.

November Colour Belt Testing

The next testing will be held on Sunday 29th of November. Please check your Testing Status to see if you have attended enough classes to be eligible.
Instructors will make their assessments around mid-November to confirm that you have attained the standard required to test.

Use Of Turkey St and Southgate Halls
We’d like to thank all parents and students for helping in making sure the restart of training in August went smoothly. 🤗
Classes on Wednesdays at Turkey Street will start from 9th September.
Southgate School have informed us that they will not be allowing access to the Gym for clubs until normal school activities settle down. Unfortunately the 14th Scout Club will be using their hall from the 10th of September so we are busy trying to find an alternative location.

Colour Belt Testing on Sunday 27th September at Turkey St.
Testing will be in 2 sessions between 10 am and 12 pm. Mr Tailor will confirm nearer the date which students are in each session.
Please ensure that you have the required number of classes to be eligible. Students who will be 1 or 2 classes short are encouraged to make up these classes in the weeks leading up to the testing.

Restarting Use Of Turkey St and Southgate Halls

The government is making positive changes to slowly move us all safely out of lock down. Some outdoor sports like football have returned but generally there has not been an easing for indoor sports. However the situation is changing weekly so we think it’s only going to be a short time until we are able to get back to classes. We expect there to be some restrictions which are likely to mean:
– Smaller classes with booking up front to restrict numbers
– Shorter classes to allow for cleaning and change over
– Separate entrance and exit from the hall
– no bare feet
– no mats
– Parents not allowed to stay and watch unless social distancing can be maintained
– Toilets not available
– No close range/contact
– use of face masks for students
– use of PPE for instructors
We will be in touch once there is clear guidance from the government. In the meantime make sure your uniforms are clean and still fit! 😊

July Testing

There are 2 testings currently scheduled in July.
Black Belt Tag Testing – 6th July
Colour Belt Testing – 12th July
The expectation is that both of these will be virtual testings which will be confirmed nearer to the date of the testing.

Training During Lock down Period

I hope you are all keeping well. 😊
We know how hard it is when your normal routine is changed and so it's very encouraging that some of our students are regularly sending in videos of their training as well as booking 121 sessions. 👏🏼😍
If you haven't done so then please think about submitting a training video or booking a 121 session as we want to make sure you stay on track with your training.
Don't forget that there are training videos posted on our school website https://www.enfieldckd.co.uk/.
The link to the training videos is under the Members Section. The videos cover all the usual parts of the lesson as modules plus there are separate 30 minute classes. The password you need is ECKD2020.

Colour Belt Testing on 17th May

The next testing in May is likely to still be while we are in lockdown. So eligible students will need to submit a video to allow us to assess them. We will inform you if you are eligible and confirm the format of the test nearer to the date.

Training During Lock down Period

With the restrictions set by the UK government it will not be possible to run face to face training in our halls until at least the end of May. Around that time schools will be assessing whether they can open again for the remainder of the summer term.
So we will be embracing online learning to allow all of our students to keep progressing with their training. Training videos will be posted on our school website https://www.enfieldckd.co.uk/.
The link to the training videos is under the Members Section. The videos will cover all the usual parts of the lesson as modules plus there will be separate 30 minute classes released each week. The password you need is ECKD2020.
As we will not be meeting fact to face it's even more important that we have your correct contact details as well as your preference, i.e. Facebook, WhatApp, Email. Please message Mr Tailor.

Colour Belt Testing Sunday 29th March

Due to the restrictions in place at the moment the testing was carried out with students submitting a video following instructions sent out by Mr Tailor. Most students were able to follow the instructions though some did not receive these in time hence it's very important that they are signed up to our emails or WhatsApp groups where possible. New Syllabus

We've been introducing parts of the new syllabus since the beginning of this year. For most it is a simplification that will allow each student to improve the quality of their techniques. The next testing which is this month will take into consideration that we are transitioning from old to new.
Please spend sometime studying the new syllabus which is available through your student login on this link.

Changes to Colour Belt Testing Day

All testings for colour belts will now take place on a Sunday.
Please go to our calendar page in the members section of our website and follow the instructions to added the subscription calendar to your phone.
If you have an iPhone and you've previously subscribed then the new dates will already be in your calendar.
If you have an iPhone and haven't subscribed then please click on the calendar icon for Colour Belt test dates to add it to your phone calendar.
If you have an android phone and you've previously subscribed then follow the instructions to first remove the previous calendar before adding the new calendar.
Any problems then please see one of the instructors.

Changes to Minimum Classes for Colour Belt Grades

A students eligibility to test depends on the senior leadership team’s view on whether the student knows their syllabus as well as the number of classes that they have attended. Going forward there will be increased focus on ensuring that each student is able to perform the basics correctly and hence we are allowing more time whilst the student is a Jul to perfect their techniques. The number of classes needed is listed below:

Jul to Jang- min 14 classes
Jang to next rank – min 7 classes

Colour Belt Testing Sunday 29th March

Next testing is coming up at the end of March on Sunday 29th. Don't forget that clocks go forward. 😴
We encourage all students to ask their Parents/Guardians to stay and support them in their testing. Their encouragement during the defence and shield work really boosts the energy in the room.
If you are a white belt senior or above then you will need hand safety. For Yellow belt and above it's foot safety as well.
