All testings for colour belts will now take place on a Sunday.

Please go to our calendar page in the members section of our website and follow the instructions to added the subscription calendar to your phone.
If you have an iPhone and you've previously subscribed then the new dates will already be in your calendar.
If you have an iPhone and haven't subscribed then please click on the calendar icon for Colour Belt test dates to add it to your phone calendar.
If you have an android phone and you've previously subscribed then follow the instructions to first remove the previous calendar before adding the new calendar.

Any problems then please see one of the instructors.

Changes to Minimum Classes for Colour Belt Grades

A students eligibility to test depends on the senior leadership teamโ€™s view on whether the student knows their syllabus as well as the number of classes that they have attended. Going forward there will be increased focus on ensuring that each student is able to perform the basics correctly and hence we are allowing more time whilst the student is a Jul to perfect their techniques. The number of classes needed is listed below:
Jul to Jang- min 14 classes
Jang to next rank โ€“ min 7 classes

Colour Belt Testing 26th January

Well done to all the students who tested. ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ™Œ
Great support from parents in the children's session though only one set of parents attended the teens and adult class. ๐Ÿคจ
We encourage all students to ask their Parents/Guardians to stay and support them in their testing. Their encouragement during the defence and shield work really boosts the energy in the room.

If you passed and are promoted to
- White belt senior, then donโ€™t forget to purchase your dipped foam hand safety like these from Blitz.
- Yellow belt, then don't forget to purchase your dipped foam foot safety like these from Blitz.

Changes to the Syllabus

Choi Kwang Do International is implementing a number of changes to the syllabus. The intention is to bring the focus back to improving the individual student through the mindful practice of Choi Kwang Do's basic techniques. You will have already seen some of these with more emphasis in class for front stance, foot position, body position, guard and balance.
There are also changes to how certain kicks are performed to enable better use of bio-mechanics in order to minimise the risk of injury and improve performance.
We will also be moving away from the focus on speed to instead focus on technique.

Our House Musical

Mr Maguire, one of our Assistant Instructors, will be performing in Our House.

Our House is a musical written by Tim Firth and features hit tracks by Madness such as 'House of Fun', 'Baggy Trousers' and 'It Must be Love'. It first debuted in 2002 and won the Olivier for 'Best New Musical'.
The story centres around Joe Casey, who, on his sixteenth birthday, breaks into some flats to impress the girl of his dreams, Sarah. From here, Joe's life splits in two and we follow the life of Good Joe, who gives himself up to the police, and Bad Joe, who runs away.
Our House is being performed at the Spotlight Theatre in Broxbourne from the 26th to the 28th of September, featuring Sean/Mr Maguire as a Chemist and a Clown. Our House is only suitable for those who are 13 and over.
Please visit www.ehosmadness.co.uk for more information or see the flyer here.

Introduction of the pre-test

Pre-testing for Juniors will be carried out approximately 2 weeks prior to each testing. So for the September testing this will be carried out during the classes from Tuesday 10th to Sunday 15th September. During this time Instructors will assess each student who is eligible to test to ensure they are technically competent to grade. This will take the form of a normal class but the Instructors will not be able to guide any student. If the child is competent to grade then their name will be added to the grading list. If they are not technically ready, then we will provide feedback to both the parent and child on what needs to be worked on to ensure they are ready for the next testing.

May Grading
Another successful grading held on Tuesday 28th May 2019, with a 100% pass rate.
However, that said we were disappointed in the standard of some of our junior students. We will be putting measures in place so that we are 100% confident that they will pass the next testing. This may include waiting longer.
We would also encourage all our junior student to train for at least 5-10 mins each day on their current and previous syllabi to ensure they are competent to grade.
Adults, you did an amazing job!

N21 Show

N21 3
N21 4
Bank Holiday Monday proved to be a very busy day for some of the students and Instructors as we were asked to put on a small Demonstration at the N21 Festival.
Not only did we put on a Demo but we also had a very busy stand! Between everyone who attended we probably spoke to 50 people! We even had our Master Tigress out to entertain!
A huge thank you to everyone who came down and supported.

Testing Assessment

Students are encouraged to send video clips via WhatsApp of their practice at home to Mr Tailor for review and feedback.
Students can check whether they are on target to have attended enough classes to qualify for their next testing by checking on the Testing Status page.

- a green shade indicates that the student is on target

- an amber shade with a number indicates the number of classes the student will be short by, for which they are encouraged to make up the shortfall using the other classes available in the week

- a red shade with a number indicates that the student is short by more than 2 classes and may be best to aim for the following testing

Calendar

There have been some recent updates to the calendar. If you use Google or Android then you will have to manually force the refresh as by default it doesn't refresh. Note that Google will only return the copy of the calendar it holds so deleting and re-adding the calendar will not work unless you modify the URL to fool Google.
1. Open Google calendar and click on the settings icon which is normally along the top and looks like a cog or click on this link.
2. Scroll down until you get to the calendar you've already added and select it.
3. There will be an option now to unsubscribe. Choose this to remove the calendar.
4. Copy the URL from the list below to replace the calendar that you removed. Please include the '?1' as this fools Google into thinking it's a new URL. The number will need to change next time you refresh the calendar.
5. Go to the option in Google calendar to add a calender from URL or click on this link. Paste in the URL and click on Add Calendar. Hopefully this will bring in the updated calendar.

All Students should subscribe to the below calendar:
https://www.enfieldckd.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/Enfield_Choi_Colour_Belt_test_dates.ics?3

Black Belts and Brown Belts should subscribe to the below calendar:
https://www.enfieldckd.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/Enfield_Choi_Black_Belt_test_training_dates-1.ics?3

AI's, Junior Leadership, CI's, Black Belts and School Owners should subscribe to the below calendar:
