We hope you have all had a chance to take a break over Christmas and get together with family and friends.
We’d like to congratulate Mr Yalcin (formally Deniz π) our latest member of the Black Belt club.
Our first class back will be at Southgate Scout Hut on Thursday 6th Jan at 6.30pm. All are welcome to attend. If you’ve never been there then you can find the details on our locations page.
For Turkey Street the first class will be Sunday 9th Jan.
With the recent changes to the Government guidelines to the new strain of COVID unfortunately for students at our Turkey Street venue we have to temporarily close the viewing room as there is a severe lack of airflow in what is a very small space.
However, for exceptional circumstances we can allow use of the room and you will be required to wear a face covering whilst in the room.
We apologise for the inconvenience, we hope you all understand and continue to support us during this unusual time.
Just a reminder that you are mindful of others and ensure that we keep each other safe by not attending class if you are at all unwell.
Please remember the instructor team are here to help, donβt forget to send us your videos for review.
December Black Belt Dan Testing

Hand and Foot Safety
The current syllabus requires students carrying out defence drills to make light contact. The equipment can be purchased from wherever is most convenient for you.
– White belt senior and above, dipped foam hand safety.
– Yellow belt and above, dipped foam foot safety.
The Playwell site has a number of gloves. Below is an example with the CKD logo but any of a similar style will be permitted. Boxing gloves are not allowed.
The Playwell site has a number of boots. Below is an example with the CKD logo but either this style or the dipped foam style will be permitted. These are designed to be generally worn without shoes and the fit needs to ensure that the toes are always covered. If wearing shoes then a larger size will be needed plus adjustments will generally need to be made. Please discuss this with an instructor in class if you want to do this.
