Welcome to the Enfield CKD September Newsletter:

Good luck to all our students who are starting new schools or going to university this month. πŸ€—

We have started to introduce the rest of the syllabus (shields, focus mitts, close range) during the Summer break with those students who’ve been able to attend. This will continue going forward but will mean that less time will be spent on the basic patterns, offense drills, defence drills, hand and foot techniques so it’s even more important to practice at home.

Don’t forget your missed classes are carried over into September. You can attend any class to make up for the ones you have missed.
We’d love to see your holiday training videos on our Facebook page #holidaychoi.πŸ₯‹β›±β˜€

Mr Bunch has had to under go an operation on his knee so we wish him a speedy recovery.πŸ€•πŸ’πŸ‡

Congratulations to Miss Tailor on attaining her Assistant Instructor status. πŸ€—πŸŽ‰πŸ˜Ž

Training Protocols

We’ve continued with temperature checks and hand sanitisation during the summer as a precaution. From September we will no longer check temperatures so it’s vitally important that if you are in anyway not feeling well that you do not attend.

All students will be required to bring hand safety to each class. Yellow belts and above will also require foot safety. Mr Tailor has a few Small and Medium hand safety otherwise please purchase your own using the guide at the end of the newsletter.

Turkey Street Classes

The floor mats will be laid out for each class so training will be in bare feet unless you have a foot infection.
Leadership students and assistant instructors need to be available to help with the the mats. Please discuss with Mr Tailor in class.

Hand and Foot Safety

The current syllabus requires students carrying out defence drills to make light contact. The equipment can be purchased from wherever is most convenient for you.

– White belt senior and above, dipped foam hand safety.
– Yellow belt and above, dipped foam foot safety.

The Playwell site has a number of gloves. Below is an example with the CKD logo but any of a similar style will be permitted. Boxing gloves are not allowed.

The Playwell site has a number of boots. Below is an example with the CKD logo but either this style or the dipped foam style will be permitted. These are designed to be generally worn without shoes and the fit needs to ensure that the toes are always covered. If wearing shoes then a larger size will be needed plus adjustments will generally need to be made. Please discuss this with an instructor in class if you want to do this.
